Visas and Immigration

The visa priority service

This article provides details on how to get a faster decision on your visa or settlement application.

Applying from outside of the UK

If you’re applying for a visa from outside of the UK then you may be able to get a decision:

  • within 5 working days (‘priority service’)
  • by the end of the next working day (‘super priority service’)

Whether you can get a faster decision depends on what you’re applying for and whether you prove your identity at either visa application centre or the ‘UK Immigration: ID Check’ app.

You’ll find out if you can get a faster decision when you apply for a visa.

If you’re applying from Europe, Africa or Jordan and Israel

To find out if you can get a faster decision through your visa application centre, select the country you’re applying from on the TLScontact list (and the right centre, if there’s more than one).

Then check the ‘Added Value Services’ section of the page for that centre to see if the option is available.

If you’re applying from somewhere else

To find out if you can get a faster decision through your visa application centre, select the country you’re applying from on the VFS global website. Then check the ‘premium services’ page for your nearest centre to see if the option is available.

If you use the ‘UK Immigration: ID Check’ app

You may be able to get a faster decision within 5 working days if you’re applying for a Skilled Worker visa, Health and Care Worker visa, Student visa or Child student visa.

You’ll find out if you can get a faster decision after you’ve uploaded your documents on the app. You cannot get a decision by the end of the next working day if you use the ‘UK Immigration: ID Check’ app.

Applying with family members

You can also try to get a faster decision for each family member that’s applying with you, however, you’ll need to pay an additional:

  • £500, to get a decision within 5 working days
  • £800, to get a decision by the end of the next working day

If you apply with members of your family, you’ll get a decision for everyone at the same time.

If you’re applying together with your family, you cannot get different decision times for individual family members. If you want a faster decision, every family member will need to pay to get a faster decision.
